The Turnagain View Bed and Breakfast is easy to find. Drive South on the Seward Highway until you reach Mile 104. Turn left into the parking lot of the Indian Valley Mine, National Historical Site. Park here, call us, or walk up to the gift shop and we will show you to your room. We will be happy to give you a tour of the mine and teach you how to pan for gold once you get settled in. WARNING: there is no cure for gold fever!

Here is the best of both worlds. You'll be only 23 miles from Anchorage, close enough to hop into town for a movie, museum, and restaurant or shopping in Alaska's largest city, yet completely out in the country when you want peace and unspoiled natural beauty.

Girdwood, with restaurants and activities like paragliding, dog mushing on a glacier, picking wild berries and riding the tramway at Alyeska (Alaska's best and largest ski resort) is just 14 miles south from the B&B along the Seward Highway. View the bore tide from the front yard here or multiple other locations south to Girdwood.

Many hiking trails are within a few miles. Dahl Sheep viewing is at Windy Point, a 10 minute drive. Alaska Wildlife Center is a 45 minute drive on this beautiful highway. Here you can see Alaskan wildlife in a safe atmosphere. It's not a zoo, but a sanctuary, to get injured or orphaned animals back on their feet, so they can be released back into the wild.

A little farther down the road is Six Mile and Canyon Creeks, where outfitters offer world class white water rafting. Visit Portage Glacier, then from there drive the tunnel road through a mountain to Whittier, Anchorage's gateway to Prince William Sound. Here you may take a cruise to tide water glaciers and watch whales or charter a boat to fish for salmon. The hiking, climbing and biking are also great. Alaskan's kept the Seward Highway secret for a long time, but in 2000 this route to Seward was designated an All American Road, recognizing it as one of America's 15 best roads for scenic beauty and recreational opportunities. There is plenty of room and enough adventure along the Seward Highway to keep you busy for a long time. You'll love it!
