Welcome to Turnagain View Bed & Breakfast. This hand hewn log home presently sits on an old 1901 gold mining claim originally known as, Strong's Mine. Now known as Indian Valley Mine , which the Cowles family own and preserve as a listing on the National Historic Registry.
Tours, tales and goldpanning
are available in the summer, at our National Historic Site Indian Valley Mine, which is a 5 minute walk down the hill from your room.
Your hosts are long time Alaskans, Roger and Arlene Cowles. We have some great stories to tell, from when sourdough prospectors searched this land for gold a hundred years ago, to our own adventures like, biking the Iditarod trail or sea kayaking Alaska's coasts. Let us treat you to some old time Alaskan hospitality, simple living, and spectacular scenery.
Our backyard is Chugach State Park, home to moose, bears, wolves, sheep and mountain goats, while our front yard, Turnagain Arm, is home to beluga whales, migrating salmon and the second highest tide in the world.
