Welcome to the Turnagain View Bed and Breakfast. Your hosts are long time Alaskans, Roger and Arlene Cowles.
This property is part of a 1901 gold mining claim, which the Cowles family own and preserve as a listing on the National Historic Registry.
Tours, tales, and gold panning are available 7 days per week in summer, at the source, which is a 5 minute walk down the hill from your room.
We have great stories to tell you, from when sourdough prospectors searched this land for gold a hundred years ago, to our own adventures, like biking the Iditarod trail or sea kayaking Alaska's coasts. Let us treat you to some old time Alaskan hospitality, simple living and spectacular scenery.
Our backyard is Chugach State park, home to moose, bears, wolves and mountain goats, while our front yard, Turnagain Arm, is home to beluga whales, migrating salmon and the second highest tide in the world. |

Enjoy our hand crafted log home-- it has a million dollar view, for just a couple hundred bucks per night. Our family is looking forward to meeting you.
We like kids. We have three, aged at 7, 12, and 15, that you will most certainly meet, either as your tour guide at the mine or doing chores around the Bed and Breakfast. This is a great family place. There is a lot of room for your kids to run and get wild outside, our kids do and will probably show yours around. We encourage this high-energy activity while outside, but REQUIRE that they be well behaved when indoors.
Our Bed and Breakfast is also a great place for private parties, garden weddings, and other celebrations.
The house is smoke, shoe, and pet FREE.
We are members of the Anchorage Convention and Visitors Bureau (ACVB) and the Anchorage Alaska Bed and Breakfast Association (AABBA). Rest assured, this bed and breakfast has passed a peer inspection for health, safety, and quality standards.
